The Kingdom
From the composer: This work, The Kingdom, is inspired by the readings of The Kingdom by Emmanuel Carrère. In the book, the author explores the mysterious source of the impulse to believe. He mixes personal experiences with historical research of early Christianity, blending scholarship with speculation. The music results in a dialogue between different soundscapes, an evasive song cycle–like quality, a mutation of folkloric themes into textures, persistent rhythms that emerge and migrate, and a ritualistic feel that dissolves into isolation.
