Untitled by Dai Wei

The new piece I am working on is inspired by a few trips I had been taking since March 2020. During my stay in Tibet and Yunnan province, I got a chance to collaborate with the local musicians and had an amazing learning experience in the music and the culture of these minority groups. The new work involves musical elements such as throat singing, traditional ethnic dance music, contemporary resonance, and propulsive rhythms of pop music. I want to create a multicultural and multidimensional conversation that goes beyond time and space which ultimately takes me to the sanctuary I carry inside.
