Symphony No. 1

On May 12, 2008, the Great Sichuan Earthquake killed around 70,000 people in China. About 380,000 people are injured and more than 18,000 were missing. The deadly earthquake left thousands and thousands orphans, widows, and widower. Homes were gone and hearts were broken… I was living in Manhattan at that time. Bearing with the pressure of finishing my dissertation for my DMA from Cornell University, I could not help watching the news with watering eyes. The beautiful May and bustling Manhattan aggravated my grief to the lives lost in the earthquake. Symphony No. 1 will be a three-movement work.
