Commission Club Artists & Works

2022-2023 Season

Now in its sixth year, ACO’s Commission Club invites all to join the creative process of commissioning new works with American Composers Orchestra. Club membership supports commission fees, printing, rehearsal, and performance costs. Benefits include printed credits in newly-commissioned scores and invitations to exclusive events to meet the artists. This season, the Club will support commission and premiere of 9 new works by ACO in 2022-23.

Seven Sides of Fire 

A new work for chamber orchestra (35 players) and the Attacca Quartet to be premiered by ACO on October 20, 2022 at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall.  

Yvette Janine Jackson

Hello, Tomorrow!

Taking its title from George Lefferts’ story, Jackson’s work is written for orchestra and electronics, and will premiere on October 20, 2022 at Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall.

Mark Adamo

Last Year

Concerto for Solo Violoncello with Harp, Piano, String Orchestra, and Percussion to be premiered by ACO on October 20, 2022 at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall.

Ellen Reid

Floodplain

Co-commissioned by Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, ACO and RTÉ National Symphony, this work will receive its NY premiere on March 16, 2023 at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall.

Kaki King

Modern Yesterdays

Modern Yesterdays is a suite for guitar & orchestra drawn from musical material from Kaki’s album of the same name, paired with projection mapping, which ACO will premiere March 16, 2023 at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall.

Mendi + Keith Obadike

Dream Train

A meditative piece inspired by the mythology of the train in African American music & visual art featuring ACO musicians & 3 actors, premiering in June 2023 with ACO.

Trevor New

Cohere Touch 

A new work for orchestra and augmented reality system “The Hub,” a custom-built, server-based system that can support in-person and virtual interactivity. To premiere in June 2023 with ACO (exact date TBD).
